Introduction
This article contains step-by-step instructions for creating tricky records in X-Cart via REST API. For more information about how REST API works in X-Cart, please refer to main article: REST API documentation.
In the article, we will assume that your X-Cart store is available at https://localhost/, your REST API key with writable permissions is ‘write’.
Defining product attachments for product
To illustrate the process let us assign Google’s logo as an attachment to the product with ID 40. We will use this Google logo: https://www.google.com/logos/doodles/2015/googles-new-logo-5078286822539264.3-hp2x.gif
http://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_path=cdev-fileattachments-product-attachment/0&_method=post&model[storage][path]=https://www.google.com/logos/doodles/2015/googles-new-logo-5078286822539264.3-hp2x.gif&model[storage][mime]=image/gif&model[storage][fileName]=doodle.gif&model[storage][storageType]=u&model[product][product_id]=40
To properly create file attachment, your request must contain all the following parameters:
1. model[storage][path] - path where file attachment is at;
2. model[storage][storageType] - type of path used for this attachment. It can be:
‘f’ - absolute path to the file on your filesystem;
‘r’ - path to the file from a directory for these specific files. For instance, all product attachments are stored in
<X-Cart>/files/attachments/
directory;‘u’ - path as URL;
3. model[storage][mime] - MIME type based on file’s extension;
4. model[storage][fileName] - name of the file to be displayed.
If you want to assign file attachment and store these attachments in your store, then you need to upload these attachments into the <X-Cart>/files/attachments/
directory and specify:
1. model[storage][path]=path/to/you/file/inside/attachments/directory
2. model[storage][storageType]=r
How to define product translations
We will work with product with ID 30.
Fetch data for a product you want to change translation for:
https://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_path=product/30
The response will contain the section like this:
[translations] => Array
(
[0] => Array

[description] => <h4 class="prodheader">HEADPHONES FOR THE MASTER CHIEF IN YOU!</h4><p>When it's game time, you slip on your headphones and disappear into whatever world you're gaming in. It's important that these headphones are quality for many reasons. First, you want to make sure you hear everything: from explosions to enemies to spells to conversation with other online players. And second, you want to make sure other players hear you! Time to power up your gaming experience to a whole new level with the Astro A50 Halo Edition.</p><p>With

)
You need to save the ‘label_id’ value for translation for needed language. In this example, if we want to change English values, then label_id = 30. For Russian translation, label_id = 72.
Knowing ‘label_id’ we make PUT request to change those values, e.g.
http://localhost/next/src/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=put&_path=producttranslation/30&model[name]=test%20name&model[description]=test%20description
This request defines English name of a product as ‘test name’ and full description as ‘test description’.
Creating product attributes
We are going to create attribute (Color = Black) for product with ID = 30.
1. Create product attribute object as follows:
https://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=post&_path=attribute/0&model[product][product_id]=30&model[type]=S&model[visible]=1
We define model[product][product_id]
as ID of a product we create an attribute for.
The response to this request will be something like that:
{"visible":"1","id":89,"position":0,"decimals":0,"type":"S","addToNew":"","variantsProducts":null,"productClass":null,"attributeGroup":null,"attribute_options":[],"product":{"ogMeta":"","useCustomOG":false,"marketPrice":0,"pinCodesEnabled":false,"autoPinCodes":false,"participateSale":false,"discountType":"sale_price","salePriceValue":0,"xcPendingBulkEdit":false,"isCustomerAttachmentsAvailable":false,"isCustomerAttachmentsRequired":false,"facebookMarketingEnabled":false,"freeShip":false,"freightFixedFee":0,"useAsSegmentCondition":false,"exported_pb":false,"gpc":null,"gtin":null,"hs_code":null,"mpn":null,"model_number":null,"stock_number":null,"hazmat":null,"chemicals":null,"pesticide":null,"aerosol":null,"rppc":null,"non_spillable":null,"fuel":null,"ormd":null,"battery":null,"product_condition":null,"product_id":30,"version":1,"price":299.99,"sku":"12003","enabled":true,"weight":2.1,"useSeparateBox":false,"boxWidth":0,"boxLength":0,"boxHeight":0,"itemsPerBox":1,"free_shipping":false,"taxable":true,"javascript":"","arrivalDate":1495372320,"date":1508332301,"updateDate":1508332301,"needProcess":false,"inventoryEnabled":true,"amount":60,"lowLimitEnabledCustomer":true,"lowLimitEnabled":true,"lowLimitAmount":10,"attrSepTab":true,"metaDescType":"A","sales":0,"xcPendingExport":false,"entityVersion":"089ff09a-f2ea-4b6c-8ed1-d916f286f71a"},"attribute_properties":null,"translations":[]}
Save ‘id’ value (89 in our case). This is an ID of attribute object.
2. Define the name of the attribute:
http://localhost/next/src/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=post&_path=attributetranslation/0&model[owner][id]=89&model[name]=Color&model[code]=en
Notice that we pass model[owner][id]
as attribute object ID.
3. Create object of attribute value:
https://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=post&_path=attributeoption/0&model[attribute_id]=89
Notice that we pass model[attribute_id]
as attribute object ID again.
The response to this request will be like this:
{"id":219,"addToNew":false,"position":0,"attribute":null,"translations":[]}
Save ‘id’ value as it will represent ID of attribute value object.
4. Define value (Black, in our case) for the attribute:
https://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=post&_path=attributeoptiontranslation/0&model[owner][id]=219&model[name]=AttributeValue&model[code]=en
We pass model[owner][id]
as attribute value object ID.
5. Tie attribute object and attribute value object together:
httsp://localhost/admin.php?target=RESTAPI&_key=write&_method=post&_path=attributevalue-attributevalueselect/0&model[attribute_option][id]=219&model[attribute][id]=89&model[product][product_id]=30
In this request, we pass model[attribute_option][id]
as attribute value object ID, model[attribute][id]
as attribute object ID and model[product][product_id]
as product ID.
