Before you start using post-checkout upsells in your store, it is a good idea to configure it properly. To access the settings page for the Post-Checkout Upsell add-on, use the "Settings" link:

The add-on settings page looks as follows:

Here you can adjust the following settings:

  • Number of products to show in the reminder list: This setting allows you to specify the number of products to display in the post-checkout product recommendation block. There is no set limit for this setting value, but we recommend setting it to no more than 3-6 items. It is best to choose products that go together well and are not too expensive - we want the customer to purchase on an impulse!

  • Redirect to checkout after adding to cart: This setting allows you to specify what happens after a customer adds a product from the post-checkout product recommendation block to their shopping cart. Depending on this setting, the customer will or will not be redirected to checkout. Following is a detailed description of what happens in each case:

    • The setting is ON: The product chosen by the customer will be added to the shopping cart. The popup block with post-checkout product recommendations will be closed. The customer will be redirected to the checkout page with all the order info fields pre-completed based on the customer's previous order. To complete the purchase of the product added to the cart, the customer will have to click the "Place Order" button once again.

    • The setting is OFF: The product chosen by the customer will be added to the shopping cart. The popup block with post-checkout product recommendations will remain displayed on the screen, allowing the customer to add more products from other product recommendations to the shopping cart. Once the customer completes adding the recommended products to their cart, they will need to close the popup block manually. After closing the popup block, the customer will still be on the Invoice page of the previous purchase. They will need to initiate a new checkout from the mini cart or the shopping cart page to complete the new purchase.

In addition to the settings on this page, you can control at least one more thing: the title of the post-checkout product recommendation popup block. Although it is "Anything else, maybe?" by default, you may use a different title instead. You can change the title text in almost no time at all. See Making Changes to the Post-Checkout Product Recommendation Block for instructions on how to do that.
