A shipping method is the delivery service a shopper selects at checkout. Its cost is charged in addition to product prices and any applicable taxes. Offering a well-rounded set of options can increase conversion by allowing customers to choose the most suitable, cost-effective delivery for their needs.

Common shipping methods include:

  • Flat rate (e.g., a $5 charge on all orders) or free shipping when the order total exceeds a threshold (e.g., $100).

  • Custom rates based on order weight or order value.

  • Real-time carrier rates dynamically calculated through the carrier’s live quote service.

Shipping methods are managed by the store administrator and can be configured in the Admin area on the Shipping page.

  • X-Cart 5.6.x - Store > Shipping > Carriers & Special Methods

  • X-Cart 5.5.x - Store > Shipping

  • X-Cart 5.4.x - Store Setup > Shipping
