A shipping method is the delivery service a shopper selects at checkout. Its cost is charged in addition to product prices and any applicable taxes. Offering a well-rounded set of options can increase conversion by allowing customers to choose the most suitable, cost-effective delivery for their needs.

Common types of shipping methods:

  • Free shipping ($0 on all orders)

  • Free shipping on orders over X (e.g., Free shipping on orders over $50)

  • Flat rate (e.g., a $5 charge on all orders)

  • Custom rates (based on order weight or order value)

  • Real-time carrier rates dynamically calculated through carriers' live quote service.

Shipping methods are managed by the store administrator and can be configured in the Admin area on the Shipping page.

  • X-Cart 5.6.x - Store > Shipping > Carriers & Special Methods

  • X-Cart 5.5.x - Store > Shipping

  • X-Cart 5.4.x - Store Setup > Shipping
