Step 3: Import your vehicles

Add vehicles to your store to enable fitment-based search and filtering.

After setting up MMY in your X-Cart store, the next step is to import the vehicles you’ll sell parts for. These vehicles link products and appear in the “shop by vehicle” filter, making it easy for customers to find the right parts.

In this guide, we’ll explain why you should import vehicles even if your store already has some, how and where to import them for the best results with different integrations, and how to access them after import.

Before you begin

  1. Connect your Auto Integration with your API Credentials.

  2. Make sure your MMY settings are set to default — unless you’re using ATD as a standalone integration. In that case, change the 4th level from Submodel to Trim.

Why choose to import vehicles instead of using the built-in ones?

Your X-Cart store comes with built-in list of vehicles, but it’s mostly just a demo, matching the sample products included with the store.

You can keep that list, if you only sell parts for those demo vehicles — but let’s be honest, you don’t. As your inventory grows or gets more specialized, the default list won’t drive your business forward.

Importing vehicles lets you add thousands of models from the past 40+ years making it easier to sell the right parts. Plus, it lets you keep your vehicle list up to date with new models.

What sources can I use to import vehicles from?

You can import vehicles using:

There are three integrations you can import vehicles from:

All of these are paid services and require separate subscriptions.

CSV File

We recommend using an ACES-compatible source to create a CSV file to import vehicles.

Then, import products with fitment types in one file.

Finally, import product fitments separately in another CSV to link products to vehicles.

🧑‍💻 Request a preloaded vehicle database
If you prefer, you can request our support team to install an extended vehicle database for you — available free of charge.

I’m using ATD as one of my data sources. Should I also get AutoSync?

It depends on your setup:

If you only use ATD

Import both vehicles and fitments from ATD. This process can take over 16 hours. Also, ATD’s MMY structure is different, so adding other integrations later won’t work well – it can overwrite your catalog.

If you use ATD alongside other integrations

Import vehicles from AutoSync (or ask our support to install the vehicle database). Then disable fitment imports from ATD after importing vehicles to avoid data conflicts.

💡 How to disable fitment imports from ATD?

  1. Go to Catalog › Catalog Import › Settings › ATD.

  2. Under Import Options, uncheck Fitments.

  3. Click Save.

Importing vehicles and fitment data

To import and manage vehicle data:

  1. In your X-Cart Admin, go to CatalogVehicles & Fitments.

  2. Switch to the All Vehicles tab.

  3. Click Import Vehicles and select your data source (e.g. AutoSync).

  4. A progress bar will appear while the import is running.

  5. Once the import is complete, you’ll see a message saying Vehicle data import completed.

If something goes wrong, click Cancel on the progress bar and restart the import.

What’s next?

Once you’ve imported vehicles, the next step is to import categories from your primary integration. This will help build the foundation for your catalog structure — we’ll explain more about this in the next section.
