Setting Up X-Cart Pay

Learn how to sign up, configure, and enable X-Cart Pay at checkout.

⚙️ Requires:

- X-Cart 5.5.1 or later.

- X-Payments Cloud Connector 5.5.1.7 or later.

Before you can start using X-Cart Pay, you need to sign up and complete the onboarding process.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to add X-Cart Pay as a payment method, sign up for an account, complete your application quickly, enable X-Cart Pay at checkout, and configure optional payment and security settings.


Part 1. Add X-Cart Pay as a Payment method

First, let's make X-Cart Pay available for your store. There are two ways to set it up:

From your X-Cart Admin

  1. Go to Store › Payment Methods

  2. Find X-Payments Cloud and click ⚙️ Settings.

  3. On the Payment Method tab, select X-Cart Pay and click Add.

  4. Click Save on the X-Cart Pay page.


From your X-Payments Dashboard

  1. Click on the X-Cart Pay tab at the top of your X-Payments dashboard.

  2. Click Save on the X-Cart Pay page.


2. Sign up for X-Cart Pay

Next, complete a merchant application and receive approval. The application takes about 15 minutes.

Steps:

  1. On the X-Cart Pay, open Configuration tab.

  2. Find Merchant Application and click Open.

  3. Complete the 5-page form and review your details on the final page.

  4. Agree to the Terms of Service and click Confirm & Submit.

You can leave and return to it anytime – your progress will be saved.


Helpful tips for completing your application

Here’s some information you need to sign up for X-Cart Pay, with examples. Click each section to see tips on how to find and enter these details correctly👇🏻.

Use email that you check regularly. It will be used to reach out to you in case we need an additional information.

Full legal name of your business as registered. You can find it on your business licenses and registration documents.

Business DBA ​(Doing Business As)

Name under which your business operates. It can be different to your legal name, but is registered with the government. You can find it on your website, Google, or through official DBA filings.

Joe's Auto Supply

Social Security Number (9 digits)

Find it on your Social Security card or tax documents.

123-45-6789

MCC (4 digits)

This is a Merchant Category Code, a number used to group businesses by what they sell or do. You can find it on credit card statements or from your payment service provider.

Average payment amount (in USD)

The typical amount paid in a single transaction or payment period, to estimate it:

  • Divide your monthly revenue by number of transactions.

  • Use the average price of items in your inventory.

  • Take an assumption.

Maximum payment amount (in USD)

The highest amount paid in a single transaction or payment period, you can estimate it by:

  • Using historical data

  • Using price of the most expensive items and bundles in your inventory.

Total monthly payments amount (in USD)

The total amount paid over a month. To estimate use your financial statements or business plan.

Routing number (9 digits)

A code used to identify a bank. Find it at the bottom left corner of your personal checks, on your bank statements, or bank website.

Account number (8-17 digits)

Find it on your bank statements, in your online banking portal, or on your checks. Use the account associated with your business name.

Updating your personal Information in X-Cart Pay

You’ll need to update your details if any of the following apply:

  1. Your application status is Needs Information or In Review .

  2. You’ve changed your bank account or contact details (email, phone, or address).

  3. There are changes to your business type or registration.

To update your personal, business, or bank information, contact our support team.


Application review process

After you submit the completed application, it will be Processing while we review your business information. Most applications are reviewed within one business day.

Your application status may change to:

  • Completed: You can start processing payments.

  • Needs Information: Additional business details are required.

  • In Review: We're reviewing your application and will contact you soon.

  • Declined: Your business doesn’t meet our terms and conditions.

You can track your status in your X-Payments account under Merchant application.


3. Completing X-Cart Pay setup

To finish, enable X-Cart Pay to offer it as a payment method in your store:

On the X-Cart Pay page, select Enabled in the Status dropdown.

Enabling X-Cart Pay turns off other X-Payments methods. To offer multiple payment options, install and configure separate add-ons for each method.

✅ X-Cart Pay is all set up!


Optional payment and security settings

Enhance checkout with additional payment options:

  • 3-D Secure – Add authentication step to prevent fraud and chargebacks.

  • ACH Payments – Let customers pay via bank transfers with lower fees.

  • Apple Pay – Enable fast, one-click checkout for Apple users.

⚠️ Please note that additional fees apply for some of these features.


Activating 3-D Secure (3DS)

X-Cart Pay comes with built-in 3-D Secure. To enable it:

  1. Check the box for Use built-in 3-D Secure feature on the X-Cart Pay page.

  2. Click Save.

After enabling 3-D Secure, you must complete the onboarding process for each card brand to support 3DS transactions.

💳 Activation for American Express, Discover, and Mastercard typically occurs within 1-2 business days after onboarding. Visa may take up to 2 weeks to be activated.


Enabling ACH Payments (Bank transfers)

X-Cart Pay supports ACH (Automated Clearing House), allowing customers to pay with checks on your website.

To enable ACH follow these steps.


Activating Apple Pay

Even if you've configured Apple Pay for other gateways or PayPal, you need to complete a separate verification process for X-Cart Pay.
