Changing the Store Logo and Favicon

Learn how to brand your store with a new logo

Every X-Cart-based store has a logo, a favicon, and an Apple icon that serve as branding for your store site.

A store admin can change the default store's logo and favicon to a store brand image.

To change the store's logo, favicon, or Apple icon images, you will need the Simple CMS add-on by the X-Cart team. Make sure this add-on is installed and enabled in your store.

Changing Default Store Logos

To change the default logo, favicon, or Apple icon images for your store website:

  1. Prepare a custom image you want to use. You can use JPEG, JPG, GIF, BMP, or PNG images for the logo and ICO images for the icon.

    X-Cart will resize the uploaded image to the recommended dimensions, which you can check in the Admin area. See more info in Managing Images.

  2. In your store's Admin area, go to the Logo & Favicon page

  3. Click on the image you want to replace. You will see the drop-down menu to upload a new image. Select "From computer" to upload a new image to your store.

  4. Click alt to add the image description for search engines.

  5. Click Submit to save the changes.

As a result, the selected custom image will display on the Logo & Favicon page instead of the old one.

Now your store visitors should be able to see the new image on the storefront.

Branding the store's "Apple icon" for mobile devices is also possible. The Apple icon will appear on the home screen of a smartphone or tablet if a user pins your store to the home screen as their favorite site creating a shortcut.

Restoring Logos to Original State

If necessary, you can cancel the changes and revert to default after replacing logos with the custom ones.

To do so, select the Delete option and click Submit to save the changes.

Changing the store logo, favicon, and Apple icon directly in the storefront is also possible. Use the Layout Editor tool of the Theme Tweaker add-on for this purpose.
