By default, X-Cart supports two types of currencies - transactional currency and display currency.

Transactional (or default) currency is the currency in which the prices and all product-related costs in the store are set and stored in the database and in which all transactions are processed in X-Cart.

Display currency is the currency in which prices are displayed on the storefront.

A possibility to enable different display currencies is provided by the Multicurrency add-on that is installed and enabled by default. The add-on allows you to convert prices and all product-related costs from a default currency into a customer's native currency and display it on the storefront and at checkout. However, X-Cart will process all transactions in the default store currency regardless of the currency used by a customer to place an order.

The Multicurrency add-on works in a bundle with the add-on Geolocation that uses a free “GeoLite2 Country” database by MaxMind.

The “GeoLite2 Country” database allows defining a customer’s location accurately to a country. If you need higher accuracy, you can upload other databases on the Geolocation add-on settings page.
