Before you can start using ASAP Networks with your X-Cart store, you need to obtain and save in your integration settings an API key that will enable your X-Cart store to connect to ASAP Network. You will also need to configure your ASAP Network integration import options.
For details, see:
Getting Your Web API Key for ASAP Network
ASAP provides an API for accessing product information and bringing it over to your store. To be able to use this API, the ASAP Network integration in your store will need a Web API key (also known as "Bearer Authorization Token"). The Web API key is supplied by ASAP Network. To get your API key:
Login to your ASAP Network account. If you do not yet have an account, you can create one at ASAP Network Automotive Data Website.
Go to the ASAP Developer API page. This page provides a form that needs to be completed. You may need to scroll down the page to be able to see the form.
Note that the form is not visible on the page unless you are logged in.
The form looks as follows:
Complete the form with your information and submit it.
After reviewing your request, ASAP will set your account up to begin using the API. Your API key will be auto-generated for you.
You will be able to find your API key in the API Keys section of your ASAP account.
You will find your API key in the WEB API Key section:
You will need to copy and paste this API key to be able to save it in your ASAP Network integration settings in your X-Cart store.
Saving Your Web API Key in Your ASAP Network Integration Settings
After obtaining your Web API key for ASAP Network, you need to save it in your X-Cart store:
Log in to your X-Cart store's Admin area and go to ASAP Network Import Settings page.
Copy and paste your ASAP Network Web API key into the Bearer Authorization Token field.
Configure your Import Options (see below) and click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen to save both the API key and the import options.
After you click the Save Changes button, the Web API key will be saved in your X-Cart ASAP Network integration settings.
Provided that the API key is valid, your X-Cart store should now be able to connect to ASAP Network and access product information.
Configuring the Import Options
Before you start importing catalog data from ASAP Network, it is essential that you should configure the most general options that affect the import process. You can do it right after adding your Web API key in your store's ASAP Network integration settings (see the section Saving Your API Key in Your ASAP Network Integration Settings above).
To configure the import options:
Use the Import mode setting in the Import Options section to specify the mode that you would like to use for importing catalog data from ASAP.
One of two available options can be selected:
Import only new products, do not update existing ones;
Import new products and update existing ones.
Whether a product is a new or an existing one will be determined based on the product SKU: during a product import, if a product SKU received from ASAP Network matches a SKU in your X-Cart store's catalog, the product will be deemed an existing one. So, if you are doing an import, for example, with the option "Import only new products, do not update existing ones", this existing product in your store's catalog will not be updated.
Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen. Note that the same button applies to the Bearer Authorization Token field.
After you click the Save Changes button, the import options will be saved the way you have adjusted them.
