To start using X-Cart's ASAP Network integration with your X-Cart online store:

  1. Obtain a user account with ASAP Network.

  2. Ensure that the add-on "ASAP Network" is installed and enabled at your X-Cart store. (See add-on management instructions for X-Cart 5.5).

Note that X-Cart's ASAP Network integration requires a few other add-ons for operation:

"Auto catalog import" (provides building blocks for catalog provider integrations)

The above-named add-ons need to be installed and kept enabled for as long as you will be using the ASAP Network integration.

  3. Ensure that the "Time zone" setting for your X-Cart store has been adjusted properly; it can be found in your store's Localization settings (Store > Localization, Units & Formats tab). For details, see Units of Measure and Date Formats.

Check with your hosting service provider technical support team that the time zone specified in php.ini in your store's server environment is the same as the time zone specified in your X-Cart store's Localization settings.

  4. Contact your hosting service provider technical support team to perform the server environment setup required for your X-Cart store to use ASAP Network.

  5. Obtain a Web API key for ASAP Network and save it in your ASAP Network integration settings.

  6. Configure your ASAP Network import options. See Configuring the Import Options.

  7. The import of prices from ASAP Network is possible only in US Dollar. Consider whether you will need to perform currency conversion for prices imported from ASAP Network and complete the necessary setup for currency and price conversion accordingly. See the guide on Setting up the Currency & Price Conversion for more details.

Note that your store's default currency is specified in your store's Localization settings (Store > Localization, Currencies tab). For more information on X-Cart store configuration related to currencies, see Currency.

  8. For lossless import of fitment data from ASAP, your store is required to use the Make/Model/Year/Submodel MMY configuration. You can check and adjust your store's MMY configuration on the Vehicles & Fitments Settings page in the Admin backend (Catalog > Vehicles & Fitments, Settings tab). For more information on catalog data import, see About Catalog Data Import from ASAP Network.

  9. In compliance with brand policies, ASAP Network allows users to import catalog data only for brands for which they have obtained prior authorization and have been officially approved. Therefore, you need to acquire the necessary authorization for importing the information of desired brands to enable their inclusion in your X-Cart store inventory. You can accomplish this task by utilizing the features and capabilities provided within the backend of your ASAP Network account.

  10. After your X-Cart ASAP Network integration has been successfully connected to ASAP, your will need to import from ASAP a list of your approved brands. The brands imported from ASAP will be added to the Available Brands list on the ASAP Network Data import page. Please be aware that in the event of any changes to the list of your approved brands, you will need to perform a re-import of brands to ensure the list of brands in your store is updated accordingly. See Importing Brands from ASAP Network.

  11. Since product data imported from ASAP Network will need to use some sort of structure in your X-Cart store, it is presupposed that the products imported from ASAP Network will be placed in categories. ASAP Network uses its own elaborate category structure for products, and one of the best features of X-Cart's ASAP Network integration is that it allows you to re-create this structure (both the category names and hierarchy) in your store's catalog without having to configure those categories in your store manually from scratch. The integration will automatically create in your X-Cart store the category structure utilized by the products of your approved brands in ASAP Network. Please note that currently it is not possible to choose specific categories from which products will be imported to your store: all the categories that are used by the products of your approved brands in ASAP Network will be imported into your X-Cart store. The categories imported from ASAP will be fully manageable in your X-Cart store - just like any regular X-Cart categories that you create using your store's backend. So, if needed, you will be able to edit these imported categories and/or remove any categories that you do not wish to use.
For better performance and flexibility, the import of categories from ASAP Network to your store is done separately from the import of brands. You have the option to import/re-import categories at any time (before or after importing brands) to ensure that your store's category structure aligns with the most current category structure in ASAP Network. For details on the import of categories, see Importing Categories from ASAP Network.

  12. If you wish to use automated catalog imports from ASAP Network that will be done periodically on a schedule, configure the general import schedule for your ASAP Network integration. See Configuring the Import Schedule for ASAP Network. Please note that it is possible to override the general import schedule settings on a per-brand basis.

  13. After importing brands and categories, you need to configure your import preferences for each of your approved brands. Each brand will have its own data import settings, so you will be able to fine-tune your catalog data import on a per-brand basis. For details on configuring catalog data import, see Configuring the Import of Catalog Data from ASAP.

  14. Let the integration import catalog data from ASAP Network. Depending on how you have configured your catalog data import preferences for specific brands, the import will be done automatically on schedule or will have to be initiated manually. See Managing Catalog Data Import in ASAP Network Integration.

  15. Once the data has been imported from ASAP, you and your customers should be able to access it in your store's catalog.

  16. Check the imported products and adjust their stock quantity and status (active/inactive) to reflect their actual availability.
