⚠️ Requires:
- X-Cart 5.5.1 or later
- X-Payments Cloud Connector 5.5.1.7 or later (recommended)

If you received an email with the subject Suspected Fraudulent Activity Detected, Security Measures Activated, X-Payments noticed unusual payment activity in your store. This is a security measure to help protect your business from fraud.

✉️ What does the email say?

We have identified unusual activity on your X-Payments Cloud account due to a high number of declined transactions. This is likely stemming from bots or automated scripts engaging in fraudulent behavior.

As a precautionary measure, Google ReCaptcha has been activated on your X-Payments account, potentially leading to slight delays in payment processing. You can deactivate this feature in the X-Payments admin backend Settings -> General -> Processing by unselecting the Enable fraudulent activity prevention checkbox.'

What Triggers These Alerts?

X-Payments sends fraud prevention alerts when it detects unusual payment activity, such as:

  • Multiple declined transactions in a row, like repeated failed payments.

  • A sudden spike in transactions that later get declined.

  • Other payment behaviors that seem suspicious.

These transaction will show as Charged with Warning in your X-Payments Admin.

Charged with Warning transaction

This means the payment went through, but X-Payments and/or Payment Gateway you used flagged it as suspicious.

If this happens, you'll get an email so you can manually review the payment and decide whether to accept or decline it.

⚠️ You should only receive fraud prevention emails once per day. If you're getting them more frequently, contact support for assistance.

What Happens When Fraud Prevention Is Activated?

When fraudulent activity is detected, two protective measures are automatically applied to your store:

Transaction Throttling – A small delay (a few milliseconds) is added to transaction processing. Real customers won’t notice this, but automated scripts trying to use stolen card details will struggle to succeed.

Google reCAPTCHA for Suspicious Users – Customers with a history of declined payments will be asked to complete a Google CAPTCHA when paying. It will only appear if unusual behavior is detected.

Can I Disable Fraud Prevention Alerts?

If you find fraud prevention alerts unnecessary or find Google CAPTCHA disruptive during checkout, you can disable them in your X-Payments admin panel:

  1. Go to SettingsGeneral.

  2. Uncheck the option Enable fraudulent activity prevention.

  3. Click Save.

Note: This feature will automatically re-enable if unusual behavior is detected again.
