Suppliers may stop manufacturing or selling products over time. Depending on the supplier, discontinued products may either:
continue to appear in catalog data with a discontinued status; or
disappear from catalog data entirely.
X-Cart handles these situations differently depending on X-Cart version and the auto integration being used.
X-Cart 5.5.1.x
Standalone Warehouse Distributor integrations
For standalone Warehouse Distributor integrations, X-Cart treats the supplier catalog as the authoritative source of product availability.
If a product is no longer returned by the supplier during catalog import, the product is automatically disabled in X-Cart.
Some suppliers provide a discontinued status while continuing to return the product in catalog data until the remaining inventory is depleted. In such cases, X-Cart continues importing the product normally and does not perform any special processing based on the discontinued status.
Catalog Provider integrations
For Catalog Provider integrations, X-Cart does not automatically disable products that disappear from supplier catalog data.
This behavior is intentional because products imported from Catalog Providers may still be available from the merchant's local inventory even after they are removed from the provider's catalog.
As a result, products that are no longer returned by the supplier remain available in the store unless they are manually disabled or otherwise updated.
X-Cart 5.6.x
Starting with X-Cart 5.6.x, MultiWD functionality allows products to be associated with multiple inventory sources.
If a product is no longer available from the supplier with the highest stock-source priority, X-Cart automatically attempts to use the next available supplier according to the configured priority order.
As a result, products are not automatically disabled simply because they disappear from a single supplier's catalog data. The product remains available as long as at least one eligible inventory source can supply it.
