The Automotive AI Assistant is an AI-powered tool that the X-Cart team uses internally to help set up and maintain Automotive stores. Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), it connects an AI agent directly to your store’s catalog, vehicle, and supplier data, so our team can complete data-heavy setup work — most notably, mapping supplier categories to your store’s category tree — far faster than doing it by hand. It’s built specifically for Automotive stores working with automotive catalog suppliers such as Turn14 Distribution, ASAP Network, and SEMA Data; support for additional integrations can be added on request.
When and how it’s used
You won’t need to install or configure anything yourself — the Automotive AI Assistant isn’t a self-service add-on, and there’s no setting for it in your X-Cart store's Admin area. It’s a capability our team applies to your store, most often during initial setup and onboarding, though it can also be used later on, for example when you connect a new supplier integration. Either side can start it: our team may use it proactively while setting up your catalog, or you can ask your account contact to use it for a specific task, such as reviewing a fresh supplier import or cleaning up categories that have accumulated over time.
Category mapping
Every product in a supplier catalog such as Turn14, ASAP Network, or SEMA Data belongs to that supplier’s own category. If a supplier category isn’t linked to one of your existing X-Cart categories, importing it can create a new, often redundant, category in your store — and over time, with thousands of supplier categories involved, this can leave a catalog with dozens of near-duplicate categories that don’t match how your store is actually organized.
The Automotive AI Assistant reviews your supplier and store categories together, suggests matches by name, and applies the mappings our team approves — keeping your catalog on a single, clean category tree instead of accumulating duplicate categories from every integration you connect.
To put the scale in perspective, a single supplier integration can easily involve dozens of top-level categories and several hundred category nodes in total. Reviewing that volume by hand, one category at a time, is realistically a multi-day task — the assistant is what makes it practical to do as part of routine setup instead of a project of its own.
Vehicle and fitment data
Beyond category mapping, the same assistant can help review and adjust the vehicle data (makes, models, years, and submodels) that powers Year/Make/Model fitment on your storefront — for example, enabling or disabling specific makes or models, or narrowing a make down to a particular range of years. This keeps the vehicle selector your customers use limited to what your store can actually fit and sell, rather than the full, much broader vehicle database it starts from.
