With the Mailchimp Integration with eCommerce Support add-on configured in the store, registered customers can subscribe to Mailchimp newsletters using the regular newsletter subscription form on your site. Your store will no longer record customers' subscriptions for newsletters in the Marketing -> Newsletters section but will add them directly to your Mailchimp audiences.
All unregistered customers can subscribe to news when creating a new account or at checkout.
If the subscription form does not appear in the storefront, check if the API used to connect your store to Mailchimp is active. If not, try to update it as described in Updating Connection to Mailchimp Account.
The registered customers can subscribe to the Mailchimp lists in the "News Lists Subscription" tab of the My Account section in the storefront.
The unregistered customers can subscribe to the Mailchimp lists:
The information about new subscriptions is recorded in the customer profile (the "Mailchimp News Lists tab) in your store Admin area and, at the same time, is added to the active audience lists on the Mailchimp side.
All further subscription management is performed via the Mailchimp back-end, where you can create campaigns, send newsletters, etc.
The installation and configuration of the Mailchimp Integration with eCommerce Support add-on does not activate any subscription for Mailchimp newsletters for customers currently registered in your store.
If you need to subscribe registered customers to the Mailchimp news lists, you will need to:
export the related customers' emails from your X-Cart Admin area;
import this info to Mailchimp manually;
activate Mailchimp lists' subscription(s) in the customers' profiles in your store.
To activate a subscription to Mailchimp lists for a registered customer, you will need to:
Locate a customer profile in the Users -> Users List section of your X-Cart store Admin area as described in Customer Account Management.
Open the Mailchimp News Lists tab in the profile of a customer you want to add to Mailchimp lists.
Select an applicable subscription or several subscriptions using a select box opposite it.
Click Update to save the changes.
If any changes are applied to an audience on the Mailchimp side (e.g., the audience name is changed or new contacts are added to the audience through a Mailchimp import), these changes are not reflected in your X-Cart store. They will not affect the current store configuration settings. For example, if you change the audience name in Mailchimp, X-Cart annuls all previous subscriptions for this audience and disables them in a customer profile. Furthermore, suppose you import any customers directly to Mailchimp (even if they are registered customers in your store). These customers will not automatically get an active subscription in their profiles in your X-Cart store, and you need to activate it manually for them.
