The default X-Cart 5 software allows adding banners to the store front-page (home-page) and category pages described in <a href="https://support.x-cart.com/en/articles/5040001-changing-the-default-welcome-text-and-banner-on-the-front-page" target="_blank">Changing the Default Welcome Text and Banner on the Front Page</a>.

You can extend the default functionality with the Banner System add-on if you want to add more banners to any store page and place them in different locations.

Note that in X-Cart 5.5, Banner System is integrated with Storefront Builder, so you can manage your store's banners via the Storefront Builder facilities.
