Imagine that you want to tell your customers about your company or explain your store's returns policy. X-Cart does not have built-in pages for those needs; however, it allows you to add custom pages using the same style as the rest of your store.

Before starting this task, make sure that you have the add-on Simple CMS installed and enabled. If not, install and activate it.

To add a new page to your X-Cart store:

  1. In your store's Admin area, go to the Pages page (Content > Pages) and click the New page button.

  2. The form for creating a new page opens:

  3. Fill in the fields to provide information about the new page

    • Name: Specify the page name.

    • Enabled: Use the checkbox to enable/disable a page.

    • Clean URL: Specify a clean URL for the page (a human-readable SEO-friendly URL, typically based on the page name). The URL can be configured manually (by editing the field contents directly) or generated automatically (by enabling the "Autogenerate Clean URL" option below before saving the page details). If the Clean URLs feature is disabled, you will need to activate it for the SEO-friendly page URLs to become available to store visitors.

For information about adjusting clean URL-related settings, see Setting Up SEO-friendly Clean URLs.

    • Content: Add a page description or page content you need. Use the text editor facilities to embed images, tables, and videos into a page content if necessary.

    • Content page title: Specify the page title to display to customers. If left blank, X-Cart will use the page name as Page Title.

    • Meta keywords: Add keywords to describe a website's content shortly and concisely as essential indicators to search engines. Use lower case and commas to separate values.

    • Meta description: Select the page meta description between autogenerated and custom. The default autogenerated meta description copies the page content. Custom meta description allows adjusting the default value the way you need.

    • Open Graph Image: Add an image used on the page preview when sharing a link in networks.

    • Open Graph meta tags: Select the Open Graph meta tags for the page between autogenerated and custom. The default autogenerated tags are based on the general page details. If you need to adjust the default set of tags, use the Custom option.

    • Show social buttons: If enabled, the page will embed the social share buttons enabled via the Go Social add-on.

  4. Click the Save or Save and close button at the bottom to save the changes.
    The page will be created.

Now, if you look at your store's Pages list, you should be able to see the newly created page on the list:

If you want to include a link to this page into your store's primary or footer menu, go to the Menus page (Content > Menus) and create a menu item for the respective menu with the link to this page.
