Multicurrency Setup

Learn how to enable multiple currencies in your online store.

Multiple currencies in your online store are supported via the facilities of the Multicurrency add-on installed and enabled by default.


PREREQUISITES:

Before configuring the Multicurrency add-on, please make sure that the add-on Geolocation is installed and enabled.


General Settings

You can set up several currencies on the Currencies page of your store Admin area.

  • X-Cart 5.4 - Store Setup > Localization > Currencies

  • X-Cart 5.5 - Store Management > Localization > Currencies

Configure general settings for all currencies first.

  • Online currency rates service: Select a currency converter or set it to NONE to manually define conversion rates.

  • Currency converter API key: Specify your currency converter API key here.

    This field becomes available if The Currency Converter API or The Free Currency Converter API options are selected as "Online currency rates service."
    To get an API key, refer to https://www.currencyconverterapi.com/ and https://free.currencyconverterapi.com/, respectively.

  • Update online rates every: Set a periodicity of the rates revision.

When the main settings are configured, click "Save changes" and add other currencies to the list available for display on the storefront.

Multiple Currencies Setup

Use the "Add currency" drop-down on the Currencies page of your store Admin area to enable as many display-only currencies in the storefront as you may need.

To add a new currency to the list:

  1. On the Currencies page of your store's Admin area, select a currency code you want to add in a drop-down.

    • X-Cart 5.4 - Store Setup > Localization > Currencies

    • X-Cart 5.5 - Store Management -> Localization > Currencies

  2. Click the "Add currency" button.

That's it! Now you can proceed to edit currency properties.
