Connecting to Wheel Pros and initial setup

Learn how to add Wheel Pros as a distributor to sell their products in your store.

This article builds on the steps outlined in the Connecting Your Auto Integration guide and focuses on adding Wheel Pros API credentials to your X-Cart Automotive store and completing the basic setup.

Wheel Pros account and credentials

To start with Wheel Pros:

  1. Open a Dealer Account with Wheel Pros.

  2. Register for the data portal using your dealer account credentials.

  3. Contact Wheel Pros at data@wheelpros.com to request API access for X-Cart.


Connect X-Cart to Wheel Pros

To start selling Wheel Pros products, you’ll need to link your X-Cart store to your Wheel Pros account using your API credentials.

To access the Wheel Pros integration connection settings, go to CatalogCatalog ImportSettingsWheel Pros. The settings you need are located in the Connection section.


Your Wheel Pros credentials need to be entered into the appropriate fields:

  • Username: Enter your Wheel Pros account username.

  • Password: Enter your Wheel Pros account password.

  • Optional: Enable the Test mode toggle to explore how the Wheel Pros integration works without processing real orders or spending money.

Click Save Changes.

Set your Preferred Warehouse Location for Wheel Pros

Next, choose the warehouse location that will be your preferred one for shipping products from Wheel Pros. Make sure the warehouse you select in X-Cart matches the one set in your Wheel Pros account.

You can check it on the Wheel Pros site under My Account > Account Information > Preferred Warehouse Location.

In X-Cart, your preferred warehouse location can be set under CatalogCatalog ImportSettingsWheel Pros in the Preferred Warehouse Location section.

Use the Warehouse Location selector to choose the warehouse address you require. Then click Save Changes.

Configure shipping for Wheel Pros

Wheel Pros does not automatically provide shipping rate data for order delivery. The exact shipping cost is calculated only after the order is paid (marked as PAID in X-Cart). However, you do not want to keep your customers in the dark as to the cost of shipping. You can provide your customers with an estimation of shipping cost by setting up Flat Shipping Rates in your store. This way your customers will pay an estimated shipping fee when they place the order.

Keep in mind that the actual shipping cost from Wheel Pros may be different. Be sure to set your flat rates carefully to avoid unexpected costs or needing to issue refunds later.

💡 Can I use real-time shipping rates like UPS or FedEx?
No — those won’t work. Since Wheel Pros ships the orders themselves, you need to set up flat rates manually.

X-Cart 5.6.x:

The auto integration settings page for Wheel Pros (CatalogCatalog ImportSettingsWheel Pros) no longer includes the Shipping Settings section that was available in X-Cart 5.5.1.x. All shipping-related settings are managed through shipping profiles. See Shipping profiles in X-Cart 5.6.x for more information.

You can create a shipping profile for products sold through Wheel Pros and define the rules that should be used for shipping calculation. The integration does not support shipping rate retrieval from Wheel Pros via API, so your only option is to configure flat shipping rates. If necessary, you can also configure a handling fee to be added on top of the shipping rates.

X-Cart 5.5.1.x:

Shipping settings can be found under CatalogCatalog ImportSettingsWheel Pros in the Shipping Settings section.

The Shipping rates from supplier setting determines whether shipping rates received from the warehouse distributor via API are displayed to customers at checkout. Currently, automated retrieval of shipping rates from Wheel Pros is not supported, so the setting cannot be enabled.

Flat shipping rates configuration (5.5.1.x)

  1. Go to CatalogCatalog ImportSettingsWheel Pros and scroll down to the Shipping Settings section. In this section, click the Manage link near the Flat shipping rates setting.

  2. On the next page, choose to configure a new shipping rate for Wheel Pros or select an existing one.

  3. Enter the required details.

  4. In the Apply to Stock selector, choose Wheel Pros.

  5. Click Create.

Make sure to deselect Wheel Pros in all other Flat Shipping and Carrier-based shipping methods. This ensures that customers ordering Wheel Pros products will only see shipping options that match the warehouse you selected.
