The Horizontal Menus for Auto themes add-on is similar to the Horizontal Flyout Categories Menus add-on but is designed specifically for stores that sell automotive products.

"Horizontal Menu for Auto Themes" add-on

To use this add-on, your store must have the AutoMobile add-on by the X-Cart team enabled.

The primary function of the Horizontal Menus for Auto themes add-on is to provide site navigation through a horizontal bar menu with dropdown functionality.

For general add-on management instructions, see Managing Add-ons.

After the installation, proceed to the add-on settings page to configure it.

"Horizontal Menu for Auto Themes" add-on settings

The add-on settings allow you to change the appearance of your store's Primary menu.

The main setting is Category menu type. Currently, two options are supported:

  • Catalog & site pages (default);

  • Root categories & site pages.

With the "Catalog & site pages" option enabled, your store's Primary menu will include the item "Catalog" under which your catalog categories will be nested. There will also be separate items for site pages enabled by admin under Design > Menus & Pages, Primary Menu.

"Catalog & site pages" option enabled (default)

With the "Root categories & site pages" option, the menu will include the root categories of your store's catalog directly. With a great number of root categories and site pages that need to be included in the primary menu, any items that do not fit in the page width will be provided under the additional More menu item.

"Root categories & site pages" option enabled

The checkbox option "Multicolumn layout for subcategories" is available for both the category menu types described above. It modifies the way categories are displayed in the drop-down menu.

With the single-column layout ("Multicolumn layout for subcategories" = Off), root categories appear in a single column. On hover, the list of nested subcategories becomes accessible on the right-hand side.

"Multicolumn layout for subcategories" = Off

With the multicolumn layout ("Multicolumn layout for subcategories" = On), categories in the drop-down menu appear in up to 4 columns.

"Multicolumn layout for subcategories" = On

For the "Catalog & site pages" menu type with multicolumn layout, it is possible to choose to display subcategories right away without the need to expand them by hovering the cursor over a category.

"Catalog & site pages" + "Multicolumn layout for subcategories" +

+ "Display subcategories right away"

This option is not supported by the "Root categories & site pages" menu type.
