How to view stock information for products
You can access stock availability details for existing products in the following sections:
Inventory (Catalog > Inventory)
On this page, products are displayed in a list format. For each product, detailed stock information is provided across all locations — including locations representing local store stock, warehouse distributor suppliers (like Turn14, Keystone, ATD, etc.), Total (the combined quantity from all sources, including local and distributor stocks), and the Backorder location.
Products (Catalog > Products)
On this page, products are displayed in a list format, and for each product, available stock data is shown in the Inventory column.
The quantity displayed in the Inventory column reflects the product's total stock across all stock sources (local inventory + external suppliers connected via auto integrations; Backorder stock is not included in this number).
Product details - Pricing & Inventory tab
This tab contains the product's settings related to prices and inventory tracking.
At the bottom of the tab page, you will find the Inventory section, which contains a table displaying the product’s stock information across all locations.
In the Qty field, you can see the total number of units available at the location. For local stock (My Store), this field is editable when there is only one warehouse. If your store's local stock is stored in more than one warehouse, the Qty field for My Store is displayed as non-editable, and you must expand the row to view or adjust the quantities per warehouse.
In the expanded view, for each location, you can view:
Qty — the total number of units available at the location. When there is more than one warehouse associated with a location, a breakdown of the stock quantity by the warehouse is provided.
Warehouses — a breakdown of all warehouses associated with the location. Each warehouse entry displays its name and address, as well as the quantity in stock.
Last updated — the timestamp of the most recent stock update. For supplier integrations, this reflects the time of the latest product data import.
Manage — a link to the corresponding Data Import page of the integration.
Settings (Gear icon) — a link to the settings page for My Store, where detailed configuration options for local stock management are located.
How to enable/disable inventory tracking for a product
To enable/disable Inventory tracking for a product:
Go to the Pricing & Inventory tab of the product's details.
Scroll down to the Inventory section.
Use the Track quantity toggle to enable/disable the feature.
Click Update at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
Stock priority configuration
Unlike in X‑Cart 5.5.1.x, where each product was sold from a single active stock source defined by priority settings, X‑Cart 5.6 supports selling products from all connected stock sources simultaneously.
As a result, there is no need to configure a preferred stock source or set stock and price priorities — the corresponding interface sections have been removed in X‑Cart 5.6.
How to edit inventory settings for products
A product's inventory settings can be found on the Pricing & Inventory tab of the product's details.
In the Prices & Discounts section at the top of the tab page, you can find product-level settings for the management of prices and discounts.
Further down the page, you will find the Inventory section, where you can enable or disable inventory tracking for the product and view detailed availability information in a table format.
If you change any settings in the Prices & Discounts or Inventory sections, be sure to click Update at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
Additional inventory settings for products that use My Store stock can be accessed by clicking the gear icon on the “My Store” row in the stocks table.
The additional settings open on a separate page.
You can adjust the following fields:
Arrival date: This field allows you to specify when the product will be available in your store. Can be employed by the Product Advisor add-on.
Low stock threshold: Use this field to set the low limit quantity for the product (starting from this quantity, the product stock level will be considered "low").
Show low stock warning on product page: Enable this setting if you want a warning message (like "Only X left in stock") to be displayed on the storefront if the product stock reaches the low stock threshold. You can edit the text of the warning message by editing the "Only X left in stock" text label. For information on text labels and how to edit them, see Managing Texts Labels.
Notify administrator if the stock quantity of this product goes below a certain limit: Enable this setting to get an automated email notification when the product stock reaches the low stock threshold. You will also need to specify the inventory level at which the email notification needs to be sent in the Low stock threshold field below.
Fields of the Minimum Purchase Quantity section. This section is employed by the Wholesale add-on. It allows you to set the minimum quantities of product units that shoppers can add to the cart. See Minimum Purchase Quantities Setup.
If you change any settings, be sure to click Update at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
