Use the guidelines from Installing Add-ons from X-Cart App Store to install the Back in Stock Notifications add-on.
After the installation, proceed to the add-on settings page to configure it.
Configuring the add-on includes two steps:
Configuring General Settings
The add-on settings page looks as follows:
Here you can adjust the following settings:
Send Back in stock notifications every: Use this field to set the frequency of sending information to customers.
Allow customers to subscribe to back-in-stock notifications: If this setting is enabled, your customers will be able to subscribe to the back-in-stock notifications for products that have gone out of stock.
Allow customers to specify the product quantity they want to buy: If this setting is enabled, your customers will be able to select the number of product units they wish to purchase. They will receive a notification only if the product inventory level is enough to cover their request.
Allow customers to subscribe to price drop notifications: If this setting is enabled, your customers will be able to subscribe to price drop notifications for products.
Allow customers to specify the price they want to pay: If this setting is enabled, your customers will determine the price they are ready to pay for the product. They will receive a notification only if the price changes to meet the request.
After adjusting the settings, save the changes to make them active.
Make sure that out-of-stock items are visible in the storefront. Otherwise, your customers will not be able to sign up for back-in-stock notifications.
To enable the display of out-of-stock items, ensure that the setting "How to show out-of-stock products" on the Store Setup -> Cart & Checkout page is set to either "Show in all the sections" or "Show only in categories and search listings."
Configuring the Back In Stock Email Notifications
The Back In Stock Notifications add-on settings page provides links that allow a store admin to quickly access the back-in-stock and price drop notifications in the Email Notifications section.
To edit notifications, an admin should click either the "Edit back in stock notification" or "Edit price drop notification" link. As a result, they will be redirected to the Email Notifications section where the notification they have chosen to edit will be opened.
Here the admin can edit the notification or enable/disable it. For more info on editing email notifications, see the section Email Notifications. Once the work is done, it will be necessary to save the changes by clicking Save changes.
After the Back in Stock Notifications add-on has been installed and configured, it starts collecting subscriptions for the out-of-stock products, provided they are configured to be visible in the storefront. It also records price drop requests for the products that can be in and out of stock if configured accordingly. The add-on allows a store administrator to check for product notification subscriptions (back-in-stock and price-drop requests) and find out which of the products in the store are in high demand. Having this information on hand, the store administrator can plan the store inventory replenishment accordingly.
