Managing 404 Page

Learn how to edit the default "Page Not Found" page contents in your online store.

A 404 or a "Page Not Found" page is what a user sees when they try to reach a non-existent page on your site. That may happen if they've clicked a broken link, mistyped the URL or if the page was deleted.

A store admin can edit the default 404-page contents.

Editing 404 Page in X-Cart 5.4.x

Starting with X-Cart v.5.4.0.4, a store admin can edit the 404-page contents directly in the Admin area and not only through Theme Tweaker. For this purpose:

  1. Open the Store Setup > SEO Settings page and locate the 404 Page section in the General tab.

  2. Edit the settings the way you require:

    • Regular text for 404 page: Click the Pencil icon to open the Edit Labels page (Store Setup > Translations). Edit the "default-404-text" label value as described here.

    • Show сustomer relations e-mails on the 404 page: Turn on the toggle to display customer relations e-mails on your 404 page. You can configure these e-mails in the Store Profile.

  3. Click Submit to make the changes active.

Editing 404 Page in X-Cart 5.5.x

To edit the 404-page contents in X-Cart 5.5.x-based store:

  1. Open Settings > SEO > 404 Page:

  2. Edit the settings the way you require:

    • Regular text for 404 page: Edit the text in the form.

    • Show сustomer relations e-mails on the 404 page: Turn on the toggle to display customer relations e-mails on your 404 page. You can configure these e-mails in the Store Profile.

  3. Click Submit to make the changes active.
