In addition to the management of global product page tabs, the add-on Custom Product Tabs allows you to fine-tune the configuration of product page tabs on a per-product basis. This means that any product in your store catalog can not only use the page tabs configured at the global level but be configured to have its own set of page tabs, if necessary.
By default, the page tabs for any product in your catalog will be as configured via the Product Page Tabs section of the Menus & Pages page. It is possible, however, to add more tabs - and do it in such a way that they will be shown only for certain products (and not shown for others). For details, see Creating Product-Specific Product Page Tabs.
As to the management of existing product page tabs at the level of a specific product, it is possible to:
Delete any page tabs that have been created specifically for the product; see Deleting Product-Specific Product Page Tabs.
Edit the properties of product page tabs created specifically for the product; see Editing Product-Specific Product Page Tabs.
Manage global product page tabs while editing the product page tab for a specific product; see: Managing Global Product Page Tabs at the Level of Specific Products.
Change the order in which the page tabs go for the product; see Changing the Order of Product Page Tabs for a Specific Product.
Disable/Re-enable any product page tabs; see Managing the Availability of Product Page Tabs for a Specific Product.
Creating Product-Specific Product Page Tabs
It is possible to add a product page tab that will be available only for a certain specific product and not available for any other products in the catalog.
To create such a product page tab:
In your store back end, locate the product for which you want to add a product page tab and open the details of this product for viewing/editing.
A page with the product details opens as described in the article Advanced Product Details.
Switch to the Tabs tab and click the New tab button.
On the page that opens, specify the tab name, content, and brief info (if applicable).
Click Create to save the tab and continue editing it.
OR:
Click Save and close to save the tab and return to the Tabs tab of the product details page.
Deleting Product-Specific Product Page Tabs
Any product page tab that has been created for a specific product can be deleted.
To delete such a tab:
In your store back end, locate the product for which you want to delete a product page tab and open the details of this product for viewing/editing.
Switch to the Tabs tab.
On the list of page tabs for the product, locate the name of the tab that needs to be deleted and click on the Trash icon opposite it.
Click Save changes.
The tab will be deleted.
Editing Product-Specific Product Page Tabs
It is possible to edit the properties of any product page tab that has been created for a specific product: for example, you can change the tab name, edit the tab content or adjust the availability of the tab to product page visitors.
To do so:
In your store back end, locate the product for which you want to edit a product page tab and open the details of this product for viewing/editing.
Switch to the Tabs tab.
On the list of page tabs for the product, locate the name of the tab whose properties you want to edit and click on it. A page with the tab details opens.
Make changes to the tab properties as you require.
Click Save changes. The tab properties will be updated.
Managing Global Product Page Tabs at the Level of Specific Products
The Tabs tab of a product's details page in your store's back end provides a link that allows you to quickly access the page for the management of global product page tabs:
Please be warned that although it is possible to edit the properties of global product tabs by accessing those tabs directly from the list of product page tabs of a specific product, any such changes will be applied storewide.
Changing the Order of Product Page Tabs for a Specific Product
It is possible to change the order of product page tabs for a specific product:
In your store back end, locate the product for which you want to change the order of product page tabs and open the details of this product for viewing/editing.
Switch to the Tabs tab.
Adjust the order of page tabs on the page by using the drag-n-drop feature.
Click Save changes.
The order of product page tabs for the product will be updated.
Managing the Availability of Product Page Tabs for a Specific Product
(Hide tab, Disable / Re-enable tab)
It is possible to hide (disable) any tabs from being displayed on the page of a specific product:
In your store back end, locate the product for which you want to hide a product page tab and open the details of this product for viewing/editing.
Switch to the Tabs tab.
Adjust the "Show" property of the tab (the switch before the tab name) to "inactive" (grey).
Click Save changes.
The tab will be hidden.
To re-enable a hidden tab, follow the same procedure - just be sure to reset the "Show" property of the tab to "active" (green) in step 3.
