Each new X-Cart store comes with some categories containing demo data that can be deleted when necessary.
The category listing page in the store's Admin area (Catalog -> Categories) allows maintaining the categories sorting in the storefront, enabling/disabling categories, and deleting them entirely if required.
The listing page in the Admin area also displays the following information for a category:
a clickable number of featured products;
a clickable number of subcategories;
a clickable number of products in this particular category.
The value in brackets shows the overall number of products in a category and all its subcategories.
The storefront displays demo categories in a block on the homepage.
A category listing page displays subcategories in the central part of the page and the categories block in the left column.
The category page lists only the products assigned to the category but not its subcategories.
