AutoSync is an automotive integration that can function both as a catalog data provider and as a fulfillment-related supplier for your X-Cart store.
As a catalog provider, AutoSync supplies comprehensive product data information that can be used to build and maintain your store catalog. At the same time, AutoSync acts as an intermediary supplier through which product availability is aggregated from multiple upstream warehouse distributors (WDs). Unlike traditional warehouse distributors that sell products directly from their own warehouses and ship orders from their own distribution centers, AutoSync operates as an aggregator. It collects stock availability data from multiple WD partners and provides X-Cart with a combined stock value, representing the total quantity available across those suppliers. This aggregated stock is exposed to X-Cart as AutoSync’s available inventory.
Before you start: Requirements and setup
To get started with AutoSync, make sure your X-Cart store has the necessary automotive add-ons and access to AutoSync’s services:
X-Cart Automotive add-ons: Verify that your store has the key X-Cart add-ons for auto parts commerce enabled (Make/Model/Year, Shop by Brand, Auto Catalog Import, Split Shipments, etc.). If any required add-ons are missing, install them via the X-Cart App Store before proceeding.
AutoSync integration add-on: Install the AutoSync integration add-on from the X-Cart App Store. This add-on enables the connection between your store and AutoSync.
AutoSync account and API credentials: You must have an approved AutoSync account to use the integration. Once you have an account, you'll need to obtain an API key that X-Cart will use to authenticate and communicate with AutoSync via the API. Keep the API key secure.
Connect your X-Cart store to AutoSync
With the prerequisites in place, you can connect X-Cart to AutoSync. Make sure you choose the AutoSync tab under Settings.
Configure AutoSync add-on settings
The AutoSync integration add-on includes a few settings that affect the appearance and functionality of your store. Be sure to review and configure these settings to ensure your customers have a positive shopping experience.
Vehicle list (Fitment data)
AutoSync supplies structured vehicle information that allows X-Cart to maintain a comprehensive vehicle list and associate products with compatible vehicles. This data is used by the Make/Model/Year system to enable vehicle-based navigation and filtering on the storefront. AutoSync is often the primary source of vehicle information in automotive stores built on X-Cart.
Before importing products, be sure to configure your store's MMY configuration and
import vehicles into your store's database. More info:
Catalog data import
Follow the standard procedure for auto integrations:
Category import is not required for AutoSync, as the integration already includes AutoSync's predefined categories (Wheels, Tires, and their associated subcategories).
Map categories: After the initial category import, X-Cart lets you map AutoSync's categories to your existing store categories if desired.
Please note that actual changes to your storefront category structure happen only when products are imported (according to your mapping rules and only for products that were successfully imported).
Import brands: Next, import information about brands (manufacturers) provided by AutoSync. AutoSync carries products from many brands, and during the brand import step X-Cart will fetch a list of all available brands via the API. Please note that the initial import of brands is informational only; this step does not create any brands in your store. Actual changes to your store's brands list happen only when products are imported, and only brands of successfully imported products are added. Note that before importing products, you will be able to select specific brands from which to import products.
Customize brand settings: Before importing products, adjust the settings that will define how certain data is handled on a per-brand basis.
Import products: Now the main event – importing the products themselves. Choose the brands whose products you want to import and start the import process.
X-Cart retrieves complete product data for the selected brands from AutoSync and creates the corresponding products in your store catalog. This import populates your catalog with comprehensive product information, including names, descriptions, specifications, images, weight and dimensions, fitment compatibility (Make/Model/Year data), Retail pricing, and aggregated stock availability provided by AutoSync. You can find a summary of the data types that can be imported from AutoSync in the section Data types imported from AutoSync.
Depending on how many products are available through the brands you selected, the import can take some time. (It runs in the background, so you don’t have to keep the browser open the whole time.) Once done, you’ll see the new products in your catalog products list, each assigned to the appropriate categories and brands. If you configured “New product status” as Inactive, remember to activate the imported products when you’re ready to sell – or set that option to Active beforehand if you wanted them live immediately
Note: During product import, X-Cart uses identifiers like SKU, MPN, or UPC to avoid creating duplicates. If you run the import again or add another integration, products might be matched by these fields. It’s strongly recommended not to manually change SKUs or part numbers of imported products in your catalog. If you alter these identifiers, future re-imports may not recognize the product and could create duplicates or fail to update it.
Keeping your AutoSync data up to date
Once your AutoSync products are in your store, the job isn’t completely over – product data, especially prices and stock levels, can change frequently. To ensure your storefront always reflects the latest information, you’ll need to update data regularly. The AutoSync auto integration provides options for manual re-imports and scheduled automatic updates.
In the Import Options settings for AutoSync, you can configure which data should be updated during imports from AutoSync. These options are available for all automotive integrations and generally follow the same structure, allowing you to control which types of data are updated.
After choosing which data types you wish to update by imports from AutoSync, you need to specify your desired import schedules. For instance, you could schedule nightly jobs that update Prices and hourly jobs that update Stock, and schedule a separate job weekly that updates All product data.
In addition to the standard import options, AutoSync provides additional settings for logo management. These settings let you specify whether existing logos in your store should be replaced with logos imported from AutoSync, including:
Replace existing make logo
Replace existing model logo
Replace existing submodel logo
Price and inventory management with AutoSync
When using the Turn14 Distribution integration, price and inventory management in your store follows X-Cart’s standard inventory and pricing logic, with Turn14 acting as one of the external data and stock sources.
Prices imported from AutoSync are processed according to your store’s price management rules and brand-level settings. X-Cart determines the final storefront price based on the selected price source, adjustments, and applicable constraints (such as MAP), depending on your store version and configuration.
Inventory data from AutoSync is treated differently depending on X-Cart's version:
X-Cart 5.5.1.x:
X-Cart can import and update pricing and stock data from AutoSync.
Stock values imported from AutoSync are added directly to the store’s local stock, rather than being stored as a separate supplier-specific quantity.
X-Cart 5.6.x:
X-Cart can import and update pricing and stock data from AutoSync.
AutoSync stock is stored in a dedicated stock field, separate from the store's local warehouses and other suppliers.
Locations play an important role when working with AutoSync inventory.
The exact behavior of pricing, inventory updates, and location-based stock management depends on the X-Cart version you are using (5.5.1.x or 5.6.x) and on your store’s configuration. See the following articles for details:
Inventory management
Price management
Location management (X-Cart 5.6.x)
Shipping management
Shipping behavior for AutoSync depends on the X-Cart version in use.
X-Cart 5.5.1.x:
AutoSync integration is treated as a catalog provider.
X-Cart 5.6.x:
AutoSync integration is treated as a warehouse distributor. Products in the X-Cart store's catalog supplied through AutoSync generate a separate shipment at checkout, similar to other warehouse distributors. However, since AutoSync does not provide shipping rate data for order delivery via API, shipping methods for AutoSync shipments must be configured manually in the store.
Order processing and fulfillment
When you receive orders for products supplied through AutoSync, the order is created and managed in your X-Cart Admin area with full details, including products, quantities, selected shipping method, and shipping cost.
Automatic order submission: Not supported at this time. In X-Cart 5.6.x, customers can place orders for products sourced through AutoSync, but the orders are not automatically sent to AutoSync, and there is no option to submit them from the X-Cart admin interface. To place an order with AutoSync, you must manually create the order in the AutoSync Portal using the information from the X-Cart order. Once AutoSync receives the order details, it independently distributes the order among the underlying warehouse distributors that provided the stock data.
Order tracking and updates: Order status updates are not synchronized automatically between AutoSync and X-Cart. The store administrator must manually track order progress on the supplier side and manually update order statuses in X-Cart. Customer notifications work as usual, but they are triggered only when the order status is changed manually in the X-Cart admin panel.
