Requires: X-Cart 5.6.0.17 or later.

Once you approve items and X-Cart issues an RMA, it also generates a PDF packing slip for it — one PDF per RMA, so if a request’s approved items ship from different warehouses, each warehouse gets its own RMA and its own packing slip. The PDF is attached to the Return Approved email you send the customer, and the same file stays available to them afterward via the Download packing slip button on their return request page.

The packing slip has two pages:

  • Page 1 — Return summary: your store logo, the RMA number, order and customer details, the returned items with quantities and reasons, and your return instructions.

  • Page 2 — Cut-out shipping label: the RMA number in large print with a From/To address block — the customer’s address and the destination warehouse — meant to be cut out and taped to the package.

Customizing the packing slip

Go to Store > Notifications and open the Order return agreed template. Two settings control the packing slip:

  • Attach RMA packing slip — on by default. Turn it off if you handle return labels through third-party software and don’t need X-Cart’s PDF; this also removes the Download packing slip button from the customer’s account.

  • RMA Instructions — a rich-text field for the instructions printed on page 1, for example “Please ensure items are in their original packaging. Do not apply shipping labels directly to the manufacturer’s box.”
