eBay is retiring the method X-Cart uses to upload product images to eBay listings on September 30, 2026. The new method works only with an OAuth authorization of your eBay seller account, so every existing eBay connection has to be reconnected.
Until that date, your integration keeps working exactly as before. After it, product export with images will stop working for stores that use the default settings. eBay requires at least one image in every listing, so:
new listings will be rejected;
re-exporting products and the Export images operation will no longer update images of your existing listings.
Reconnecting takes a couple of minutes and doesn’t affect your existing listings, business policies, category mapping, or add-on settings. You also don’t need to re-export your products: images already uploaded to eBay stay in place, and the new method is used for images you upload from now on.
Before you start
Update your store to a version that supports the new connection:
X-Cart 5.6.0.21 or later, if your store runs X-Cart 5.6.x;
X-Cart 5.5.1.66 or later, if your store runs X-Cart 5.5.x.
You’ll also need to sign in to the same eBay seller account that your store is currently connected to.
Reconnecting an eBay configuration
You need to reconnect each eBay configuration separately — there is one configuration per eBay marketplace site.
Open the eBay configurations in the Admin area:
X-Cart 5.6.x: go to Channels > eBay.
X-Cart 5.5.x: go to Channels > eBay Listings.
The eBay Configurations page opens with the list of your eBay marketplace sites.
Find the configuration you want to reconnect and click Configure.
Go to the Get User Token step at the top of the page.
Make sure the Select mode option is set to Live. Choose Test only if this configuration works with the eBay Sandbox.
Click Create new token. You are redirected to eBay.
Sign in with the same eBay seller account that this configuration currently uses. Signing in with a different account breaks the link between your store and the listings that are already published.
On the “Grant Application Access: X-Cart” page, confirm the permissions.
You are redirected back to the Get User Token step in your store.
If you have several eBay configurations, repeat steps 1–8 for each of them.
How to check that it worked
On the Get User Token step, you should now see:
Authorization: Granted by the eBay merchant and a Granted permissions line instead of the User Token field;
Token Status: Active;
Authorization Expiration with the date when the authorization expires (about 18 months from now).
If something goes wrong
If you cancel or decline the authorization on eBay, the store shows “The eBay authorization has been declined. The user token has not been created.” Repeat the steps above.
If the authorization later becomes invalid — for example, you revoke the application’s access in your eBay account, or it expires — the store shows “The eBay authorization is not valid anymore…” in the Admin area. Reconnect the same way.
