X-Cart allows switching the storefront display mode of the plain field attributes from select-box to blocks. This feature is available in all X-Cart v5.4.1.x online stores and above.

If necessary, a store administrator can change the display mode of an attribute directly in the attributes listing on the Classes & Attributes page of the store's Admin area (Catalog > Classes & Attributes). Use the Display as toggle for the purpose:
Supported formats are:
Selectbox
Blocks
Color swatches (if you have the Color Swatches add-on enabled)
