To start using X-Cart's SEMA Data integration with your X-Cart online store:

  1. Ensure that the add-on "SEMA Data" is installed and enabled at your X-Cart store. (See add-on management instructions for X-Cart 5.5).

Note that X-Cart's SEMA Data integration requires a few other add-ons for operation:

"Auto catalog import" (provides building blocks for catalog provider integrations)

The above-named add-ons need to be installed and kept enabled for as long as you will be using the SEMA Data integration.

  2. Ensure that the "Time zone" setting for your X-Cart store has been adjusted properly; it can be found on the Localization > Units & Formats page of your X-Cart store's Admin area. Check with your hosting service provider technical support team that the time zone specified in php.ini in your store's server environment is the same as the time zone specified in your X-Cart store's Localization settings.

  3. Contact your hosting service provider technical support team to perform the server environment setup required for your X-Cart store to use SEMA Data.

  4. Sign up for an account with SEMA Data, obtain a security token for access to SEMA Data API, and configure your import options. See Connecting Your X-Cart SEMA Data Integration.

  5. SEMA uses the Make/Model/Year/Submodel configuration for product fitment data. For fitment data to be imported into your X-Cart store properly, ensure that your store's MMY configuration is the same. You can check and adjust your store's MMY configuration on the Vehicles & Fitments Settings page in the Admin backend (Catalog > Vehicles & Fitments, Settings tab). For more information on catalog data import, see About Catalog Data Import from SEMA Data.

  6. Consider whether you will need to perform currency conversion for prices imported from SEMA and complete the necessary setup for currency and price conversion accordingly. See the guide on Setting up the Currency & Price Conversion for more details.

Note that your store's default currency is specified in your store's Localization settings (Store > Localization, Currencies tab). For more information on X-Cart store configuration related to currencies, see Currency.

  7. In compliance with brand policies, SEMA Data allows users to import catalog data only for brands for which they have obtained prior authorization and have been officially approved. So, you'll need to get the necessary authorization for importing the information of desired brands to enable their inclusion in your X-Cart store inventory. You can accomplish this task by utilizing the features and capabilities provided within the backend of your SEMA Data account.

  8. After your X-Cart SEMA Data integration has been successfully connected to SEMA, your will need to import from SEMA a list of your approved brands. The brands imported from SEMA will be added to the Available Brands list on the Data import page for SEMA Data integration. Please be aware that in the event of any changes to the list of your approved brands, you will need to perform a re-import of brands to ensure the list of brands in your store is updated accordingly. See Importing Brands from SEMA Data.

  9. Import vehicle data. See Importing Vehicles from SEMA Data.

  10. After importing brands, you need to configure your import preferences for each of your approved brands. Each brand will have its own data import settings, so you will be able to fine-tune your catalog data import on a per-brand basis. For details on configuring catalog data import, see Brand-specific Configuration of Catalog Data Import from SEMA Data. For detailed info on the import of categories, see Importing Categories from SEMA Data.

  11. Let the integration import catalog data from SEMA Data. Depending on how you have configured your catalog data import preferences for specific brands, the import will be done automatically on schedule or will have to be initiated manually. See Importing Catalog Data from SEMA Data.

  12. Once the data has been imported from SEMA, you and your customers should be able to access it in your store's catalog.
