Carrier shipping rates setup

Learn how to set up carrier-calculated shipping rates in your online store.

To use shipping rates from the most popular delivery services integrated into your online store, configure shipping as outlined below:

  1. Choose to add a shipping carrier account.

    • X-Cart 5.6.x

      Navigate to your store's Shipping Profiles page (Store > Shipping).

      Then switch to the Carriers & Special Methods tab.

      Click Add carrier account.

    • X-Cart 5.5.x

      On the Shipping page (Store > Shipping), click Add shipping method or Add Shipping Solutions button.

    • X-Cart 5.4.x

      Navigate to Store setup > Shipping, then click Add shipping method.

  2. In the popup window, locate the carrier whose real-time rate calculation service you want to use. Then, choose to add/install the respective carrier solution.

    • X-Cart 5.6.x

      You may need to switch between the Carrier Accounts and Shipping Solutions tabs to locate the provider you require.

    • X-Cart 5.5.x

      You may need to switch between the Carrier Accounts and Shipping Solutions tabs to locate the provider you require.

    • X-Cart 5.4.x

      If the selected shipping integration add-on is installed and enabled at your store, it will have the Add button opposite it in X-Cart 5.5.x that will redirect you to the settings page. If not, you will see Install instead, redirecting you to the X-Cart App Store to install the corresponding add-on.

  3. Configure the settings of the selected carrier solution add-on and save the changes. We have instructions for some popular shipping add-ons:

  4. If necessary, configure a surcharge to add on top of the carrier calculated shipping rates to accommodate additional expenses. For details, see the article on Handling fees.

  5. Make sure the shipping method you have configured is active.

  6. Make sure you have specified your ship-from address in the store's settings. When calculating shipping rates for an order, the carrier's shipping rate service will use this information as the origin address to ship the order. See the article Managing Your Ship-From Address for more info on setting up your ship-from address.

  7. Make sure that all the products that will be shipped using the shipping method you have configured:

    • have the "Requires shipping" toggle enabled (in older X-Cart versions - Shippable);

    • have a non-zero product weight specified.

That is all. Now you should be able to get shipping rates for your products.
