As explained in the article How imported product and catalog data appears in your X-Cart store, a successful product import from SEMA Data can populate your store with a wide range of data. The table below outlines the specific types of data that may be imported.

Products

Product data includes the essential details about each item in your catalog, such as name, SKU, price, description, and images. This information helps customers understand what the product is, how it can be used, and whether it fits their vehicle. These details can be added to your store’s catalog automatically as a result of product import.

Attributes

In X-Cart, attributes are technical characteristics that describe a product in more detail and support various business and regulatory needs. Some attributes are used to help customers filter and find items compatible with their vehicle (such as by rim diameter, bolt circle, or section width). Others ensure compliance with legal requirements, inform customers, or support operational processes (for example, CARB-related attributes are used to properly label products and may restrict their availability for sale in certain regions). Attributes can be imported as part of the product data.

Categories

Categories organize your catalog into logical groups, like wheels, tires, or brakes, making it easier for customers to browse products. Well-structured categories help buyers find what they need quickly and guide them through your store efficiently.

A category from the SEMA Data catalog will appear in your store only if at least one of its products is successfully imported.

Category name (path)

This data type is used to determine the name and the hierarchical path of a product's category.

When importing product data via the auto integration, X-Cart uses the Category name (path) data provided by the supplier to determine where the product should be placed in your store’s catalog. Depending on the category mapping rules configured for the integration, X-Cart will either:

  • Create a new category in your store, replicating the name and structure from the supplier’s catalog — if the supplier's category is not mapped to an existing one in X-Cart;

  • Use an existing category — if the supplier's category is mapped to an existing X-Cart category. In this case, the product will be placed into the matched category instead of creating a new one.

Brands

Brands represent the manufacturers of the products in your catalog.

A brand from the SEMA Data catalog will appear in your store only if at least one of its products is successfully imported.

Vehicles

Vehicles are structured data sets that are imported in one of the following two formats:

  • Make/Model/Year/Submodel

  • Make/Model/Year/Trim (ATD)

These formats are the standard way automotive catalogs link parts to vehicles and are essential for setting up accurate product fitment.

Importing vehicles this way lets you instantly add thousands of models from the past 40+ years, making it easier to match customers with the right parts. It also keeps your vehicle list current with the latest models.
